Professor Deli Chen
Professor Deli Chen is the discipline leader in Soil and the Environment Research Group, Research Director of the School of Agriculture and Food, China Director of the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences, and International Collaborative Research Advisor at the University of Melbourne.He is also the Director of the Australia China Joint Research Centre, Healthy Soils for Sustainable Food Production and Environmental Quality.
Professor Chen holds a doctorate in Soil Science from the University of Melbourne and has over 20 years of research, teaching and consulting experience in Australia and China with the University of Melbourne; CSIRO Plant Industry; and the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has expertise in water and nutrient dynamics in plant-soil systems, GIS based agroecosystem modelling and decision support systems for optimal irrigation and fertilizer management, and the measures, models and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions from land sources, impact of climate on agro-ecosystems, agricultural ‘big data’ and sustainable indices.
